Production artwork for Walking with Grimms - a Fairytale Adventure - July 2003
Ragnhild Mørch
Ragnhild Mørch, a professional director and storyteller from Norway, was appointed as Artistic Director for the Grimms project. A group of locations very different to those used in The Passion were chosen for this production. This would not be just one production, but several played simultaneously in different parts of the Park with different groups of characters.
Workshops began in February focusing on different styles and techniques of storytelling and improvising a variety of Grimms' stories. From these 5 stories were chosen: Sleeping Beauty; The Devil with the Three Golden Hairs; Clever Grethel; The Drummer and How the Six Got on in the World. Ragnhild scripted these and concentrated rehearsals began with a working title of Walking with Grimms - a Fairytale Adventure.
On arrival, the audience had to make a choice: which path through the Park they would follow. After watching the first performance, Sleeping Beauty, the audience was divided and their journey through the Park's woods began. Both sides of the audience saw different productions, with different methods of storytelling in different settings, before simultaneously joining together for the ending of the final story - having seen a different beginning to the same story. Some audience members returned to subsequent performances to follow the other route.
